Whether you’re drawn to its famous watersports or simply enjoying the beachside paradise, the Space Coast is one of the most popular places for families to kick back and enjoy some fun in the sun. Now that it’s OFFICIALLY summertime, we’re celebrating by bringing you our list of the top five things to do in Cocoa Beach for locals and visitors – from the beach to the brewery! Check it out.
1. See the View from the Exploration Tower
Instantly recognizable for its unusual design, the Exploration Tower is a seven-story staple of Port Canaveral. Floor by floor, the Exploration Tower is simply packed with exhibits and views of local wildlife and even has a state-of-the-art theater. As it turns out, fun and education can go hand in hand, and this unique landmark really brings that home. You can also go all the way to the 7th floor of the tower for an incredible panoramic view of Port Canaveral, the cruise ships, and the ocean.
2. Stroll Along the Pier
The Cocoa Beach Pier is simply one of the most iconic, can’t-miss Cocoa Beach attractions. Stretching 800 feet into the ocean, the pier is not only lined with all manner of fun restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops, it also makes for a great fishing spot! Perfect for an evening dinner or a day-time outing, you’ll find a ton to do. At the end of the pier you can also find a small tiki bar, where you can order drinks and see the gentle swells of the ocean!
3. Hit the Waves with Wildlife Watersports
Our beautiful beaches are fantastic for surfing, but there are a lot more ways that you can enjoy the waters of Cocoa Beach! Located right by the Thousand Islands, Wildlife Watersports offers jet-ski tours, kayak rentals, and boat rentals. It’s one of the best ways that you can kick back and relax on the water. Get your adrenaline pumping on a jet ski or cruise with the dolphins on a boat – you won’t be disappointed with any of the watersports options on the Banana River Lagoon. And if you’re looking for a special summer experience, you can even schedule a bioluminescence kayak tour for a rare, after-dark adventure!
4. Visit the Kennedy Space Center
Just north of Cocoa Beach, you can find the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. If you love space, this is the perfect day-trip for families! The facility has a wide variety of exhibits and interactive attractions to put you right in an astronaut’s shoes and experience an astronomical piece of world history. From the youngest child to the oldest grandparent, there is something for everyone at the Space Center. Just make sure to bring your walking shoes – there is a LOT of space to traverse!
5. Have a Drink at the Local Brewery
Locals and visitors alike know exactly where to go in Cocoa Beach to unwind and enjoy a drink. There are plenty of great spots to kick back at on the beach, but the Space Coast’s first microbrewery is something special. Repurposed from Naval Air Station housing, the Cocoa Beach Brewing Company is a multi-award-winning, local brewery situated in the heart of historic Cocoa Beach. Looking to try some delicious ales and stouts? This is the spot for you!
