Boating, fishing, surfing and kayaking round out the list of things that you and your family can partake in while visiting. But for paddleboarding, Cocoa Beach is an unparalleled destination. A Cocoa Beach paddle board rental is one of the most popular activities at Wildlife Watersports!

However, you might not have been paddleboarding before or even seen the activity. What is a paddle board rental? Where can you go? As you local watersports expert, we’re here to give you the low-down on all things paddleboarding for your next trip to our beaches!

What is a Cocoa Beach Paddle Board Rental?

If you haven’t experienced paddleboarding before, you’re in for a treat. As one of the fastest-growing watersports in the world, paddleboarding is fun, easy, and popular all over Florida. It involves using a specialized board, similar to a surfboard, to explore, travel and enjoy the ocean waves in a way that provides you with an excellent full-body outdoor workout. You sit, stand, or lay down on the long board while using a paddle to move across the water. You can think of it as a cross between surfing and kayaking. However, it doesn’t require the specialized practice and training that surfing does.

Adventuring on the Water

It’s an accessible activity that gives you the ability to travel and explore in ways that’s easier than a typical boat while offering you the ability to carry the equipment you might need for your adventures, such as fishing gear or a box of treats for a picnic.

Thanks to the Banana River’s many islands, calm waters, and diverse environment, Cocoa Beach offers the best places in the state to get some great paddleboarding in. Beautiful islands and river wildlife occupy the shores of Cocoa Beach and the surrounding waterways —exploring them on a paddleboard is an unforgettable adventure. Here are a couple of our favorite spots you’ll want to add to your paddleboarding itinerary.

Cocoa Beach Thousand Islands

The islands here are sandy and solid, so they’re perfect for stopping at to do some fishing, have a little picnic or just stretch your legs and take in the scenery. Cocoa Beach’s Thousand Islands offer plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the breeze, waves, and sun – or wind through them on your paddleboard to see dolphins fishing in the water!

Mangrove Tunnels and Canals

Take your paddleboard away from the open waters and back towards the shore to explore the mangrove tunnels and canals! The peaceful mangrove forests of Cocoa Beach are one of our favorite places to paddle through. With manatees munching on the river grass and subtropical birds fishing in the shallows, you’re certain to see some wonderful sights.

Banana River Lagoon Shallows

One of the great things about the Banana River Lagoon is that it is shallow. That means that cruising over the water gives you the opportunity to see fish, sea grass, sting rays, hermit crabs, and more right underneath you. With our beautifully clear waters, paddleboarding lets you see so much more than you would in deeper waters!

Experience Paddleboarding in Cocoa Beach
